The world was perfect till the moment I roused
Thwarted, perplexed, baffled & groused
For where was the perfect lady I possessed
Smitten by whose charms & fully obsessed
Turned to the almighty, asked him thrice
Return my dearest, whatever the price
Pat came in a terse reply, sans the warmth or ire
“My Child – First deserve, then desire!”
Truth dawned, there’s more than what meets the eye,
No one’s perfect - at least not I
The perfect match remains an elusive dream
The answer’s contingent on how perfect I have been
